North West Private Hospital’s $55 million expansion includes a significant investment in technology that brings a range of new treatment options for patients in northern Brisbane.
The Everton Park facility now has more beds, extra operating theatres, a new intensive care unit, a day rehabilitation centre, and cutting-edge equipment to help its specialists provide gold-standard care.
CEO Chris Murphy said population growth and changing demographics were driving new opportunities for the hospital.
“We’re expecting growth in the number of specialists and surgeries at North West Private Hospital and this recent investment in facilities, including the addition of intensive care, will further support sound clinical decisions, surgical confidence and help enhance patient care,” he said.
The expansion, first proposed in 2018 and completed in around 18 months, is part of hospital owner Ramsay Health Care Australia’s nationwide growth strategy.
Capacity has increased from 101 beds to 150, the infusion/oncology service is boosted from six to 10 chairs, and there are five new theatres and procedure rooms for a total of 14.

Two of the new operating theatres are the first in Queensland equipped with the latest Stryker advanced imaging platform, which enhances surgeons’ ability to visualise anatomy and improves the patient experience.
The hospital has also invested in a new patient monitoring system, which can transfer from theatre to recovery, intensive care and beds in the new ward tower – which has a 22-bed medical unit and 32-bed surgical unit.
Also connected to three anaesthetic machines, the monitoring platform can help the hospital make data-driven decisions to measure performance and help drive best practices.
North West Private has also doubled its dermatology capacity to four rooms – including a second Mohs laboratory – and added a third procedure room to its gastroenterology department.
Its gastroenterology specialists will have the use of the latest Olympus technology, including new imaging systems enhance the visibility of suspicious tissue, deep blood vessels and bleeding sources.
