UPGRADES and a new rollingstock along with an Energex sub transmission are expected to generate 1500 jobs for the Ipswich region.
The projects make up part of the State Budget handed down on Tuesday.
More than $226 million will go to delivering new and upgrading existing rollingstock, including $51.6 million to constructing stabling facilities to accommodate the New Generation Rollingstock at Wulkuraka.
About $26.2 million will go towards upgrading existing infrastructure to support the Wulkuraka Maintenance Centre.
The region’s winners include Borallon Correctional Centre and local councils.
About $28 million in 2015-16 and $145.3 million over four years will go to the re-commissioning and operation of the correctional centre to provide for additional prison capacity.
The State Government has committed $73 million in capital grants for councils in the Ipswich region.
The West Moreton Hospital and Health Service will receive more than $469 million from the health budget and $41.5 million over four years will go towards schools.
About $484 million has been set aside in infrastructure improvements for the region, including $193.5 million for transport, $129.3 million for energy and water, $43.7 million for education and training, $35.2 million for infrastructure, local government and planning and $34 million for health.
Treasurer Curtis Pitt has gone the whole hog for Ipswich in his first State Budget, with more than $67,000 in Queensland Government funding has been allocated to the Room for Wild Animals exhibition in Ipswich.
About $10,000 will go toward researching why people dump illegally at charity stores and bins.
Another $12.6 million in State and Federal funding will go towards local government recovery and reconstruction projects.
About $23 million has been committed expanding and improving social housing in Ipswich.
More than $42.6 million has been set aside for upgrading certain train stations, including Dinmore.
Springfield Central State High School will receive $14.6 million over two years for stage three of the school.
While Redbank Plains State School has been allocated more than $9 million for land acquisition for stage two and Lowood State School will receive more than $100,000 for a new covered outdoor learning area.
Almost $2 million will go to completing the upgrade of the Bundamba permanent fire and rescue station.
Indigenous health care will receive a boost, with $8.9 million over two years to complete stage two of the Southern Queensland Centre of Excellence in Indigenous Primary Care at Inala.
About $850,000 has been set aside for resources for public libraries in Ipswich and Somerset.
The two-day Queensland Model Rail Show also had a win, securing $10,000 in funding.
About $1.6 million has been set aside in the 2015-16 budget to add beds to Ipswich Hospital, which is expected to cost $113 million overall.
There are also plans to rehabilitate the Cunningham Highway’s pavement.
The Justice of the Peace trial in Ipswich will also continue for another 12 months.
