Renowned Sydney-based interior designer Ruth Levine, founder of interior design company Ruth Levine Interior Design, has not been to Brisbane in almost a decade.
But there seems to be an opportunity she couldn’t pass up. So, for the first time in eight years, Levine is back in Brisbane and partnered with award-winning developer Pradella to completely refurbish one of the final remaining riverfront apartments at Waters Edge in the billion-dollar master-planned community, Riverside West End.
There are 233 apartments that make up Waters Edge across two buildings. which are dubbed ‘Drift’ and ‘Reach’. The buildings have a variety of one, two and three bedroom apartments, which offer front row seats to the river with 13 metre wide frontages, extra spacious living areas and superior finishes, as part of Waters Edge’s exclusive Riverfront Collection offer
“The apartments at Waters Edge feature contemporary stylish living areas and generous balconies oriented towards the river, offering views that will never be built out,” Levine said.
With the help of Pradella Director Kim Pradella, Levine selected ‘apartment 2504’ to be the canvas on which she could do what she does best.
Apartment 2504 is 13 metres wide with three bedrooms, a study and flowing living spaces that all enjoy river views. There are two bathrooms, a utility room with copious storage and a double auto-lock-up garage plus additional storage in the secure basement.
During the apartment’s refurbishment, Levine drew on her nationally and internationally recognised signature style of using textures, natural materials and the building up of visual layers of finishes and fabrics.
“Apartment 2504 features a natural palette of limed timber oak flooring combined with light-washed white walls, which become the backdrop for the layering of visual and sensual texture,” she said.
“Linen bed heads are juxtaposed against warm linen wallpaper in the bedrooms. The layering continues with chunky woollen throws, timber side tables and modern, graphic and eclectic artwork.
“My aim was to create a diverse space for a well-travelled couple who appreciate their own and other cultures. I added splashes of white, tan, charcoal and beige with hints of inky blue to create a place with a distinct persona that is warm, vibrant, and playful whilst still offering the sense of calm and relaxation that people associate with home.”
Pradella likened the end product of Levine’s work on apartment 2504 as ‘liveable artwork’.
“It’s not just a home – it’s a bespoke retreat which tells a story through design, colour and texture, an enviable home that will reflect its owner,” Pradella said.
“Apartment 2504 is simply stunning and was selected as the canvas for Ruth Levine’s first Brisbane-based interior design project in recent years – so it really is something special.
“There are very few absolute riverfront apartments available in the immediate area and Waters Edge has the added appeal of being nestled within a thriving village atmosphere.
“People say that our homes are often a reflection of who we are, and this home will resonate with those who enjoy the beauty of rare things.”
Levine allowed her interior design skills to show off the apartment, but was careful not to overdo it in order to inspire potential buyers to do their own thing
“Whilst Ruth has put her own personal stamp on this apartment, there is still plenty of scope for the purchaser to use their own imagination to extend the character of the home and to tailor it to their own tastes,” Pradella said.
Levine said she is excited about working in Brisbane again as she believes that the city has come into itself in the past few years and has the makings of an exciting future.
“The river is a special part of the city’s culture and living on the water’s edge really helps people take advantage of the beautiful Queensland weather,” she said
“I am selective about whom I choose to work with, but I believe Riverside West End is an incredibly well planned community, with quality apartment buildings that are being delivered by a reputable developer and I am excited about the opportunity to add my touch to Waters Edge.”
Hand-picked for refurbishment for its ‘natural and textural palette’, apartment 2504’s spacious 194 sqm luxury riverfront residence is priced at $1.69 million and being marketed by Platinum 360 Realty, with viewing by appointment.
