Oscar-winning makeup artist Peter Frampton’s former Queensland house is on the market.
The special effect guru bought the Gold Coast Hinterland property just before scoring the Academy Award for the historical epic Braveheart and sold it to the current vendor in 2016.
The classically-styled home at 1129 Tallebudgera Creek Road, Tallebudgera Valley, is about 15 minutes from the sands of Burleigh Heads and is going to auction on February 20.

Peter won an Academy Award in 1995 for his makeup artistry on Mel Gibson’s Braveheart, recreating the gore of battle and reality of life in late 13th century Scotland, along with fellow arts Lois Burwell and Paul Pattison.
His filmography includes The Commitments (1991), based on the novel about a working-class Irish soul band, Kenneth Branagh’s Shakespearean epic Henry V (1989) and Sid and Nancy (1986) starring Gary Oldman as the punk rock star Sid Vicious.
After accepting the Oscar from Alicia Silverstone, Peter concluded his speech by retiring.
“Braveheart has been my last film, after 28 years, I take this with great honour and pride back to Australia,” he said.
He acquired the keys the Tallebudgera Valley house, which is on the market through agent Lucy Cole of Lucy Cole Prestige, in 1994, Pricefinder shows.
The four-bedroom home is a romantic, art deco Queenslander with stables and a fenced paddock.
The grounds includes verdant lawns, a chicken pen and a swimming pool.
Inside the homestead, flourished with leadlight windows and oak panelling, is a country-style kitchen with a wood-burning oven, decks overlooking the pool and tree tops, an art studio, handsome bay windows and expanses of polished floorboards.
“This is a home that has so much charm and character and has been renovated in the main areas, like the bathrooms and kitchen where it is necessary, but other parts, the fireplace, the beautiful timber, the silky oak doors and panels, the gorgeous bedrooms and gorgeous leadlight windows, are original,” the agent Lucy said.
“It sits on top of a hill overlooking the valley, which is quite unique, with a beautiful long driveway to the top. It is well known on the coast and has a lovely history.”
Prospective buyers from Canberra, Melbourne and Beaudesert have expressed interest and flown in to view it, Lucy said, as well as the local market, looking to downsize to the country from a mansion or upside to some land.
“The charm of the home has certainly brought a lot of people out.”
The auction is scheduled for 1pm on Monday, February 20.
