It’s all about lifestyle on the Gold Coast, says Lucy Cole Prestige agent Nick Cole, with beautiful weather, golden beaches and plenty of options for boaties right on your doorstep.
And with short, frequent flights to Sydney and Melbourne available year-round, Cole says it’s easy to work interstate and travel home for leisurely weekends.
McGrath Broadbeach agent James Ledgerwood says the top end is travelling “really well”, with the Palm Beach coastal strip the strongest beachfront market for prestige homes.
“There have been nine beachfront houses sold in the last six months and they’re all selling in low days on market,” he says. “We’re not seeing over the top price growth, but consistent price growth from the riverfront to the beachfront and some penthouses.”
Lambert Willcox agent Jesse Wilcox reports a higher number of inspections over the past few months and says interstate and overseas buyers see good value on the Gold Coast, where prices haven’t seen the same meteoric rise in recent years as in Sydney and Melbourne.
Island Realty agent Sarah Filippini says it is the unique properties that are attracting the highest prices.
“Anything that is a little different or of a higher quality is really standing out,” she says.

It’s one of the largest houses in Palm Beach, says agent James Ledgerwood, and with a 14.4-metre frontage to the beach, claims almost 50 per cent more frontage than most of its neighbours. Designed by Burling Brown Architects and built by the highly regarded Barclay Bros in the early 1990s, the property is in immaculate original condition. A majestic marble entry leads into a four-storey-high glass atrium and a lift and grand staircase connects all four levels.
