NEIGHBOURS come and go but the Christmas spirit is evermore for a close-knit Springfield Lakes nook.
For 14 years, Diana St residents have decorated their homes in what has become one of the region’s most popular lights destinations.
Long-time resident Naomi Thompson said the street had lost three long-time lights families this year.
“But the rest of the street is banding together,” Ms Thompsons aid.
“It’s a new generation. As soon as new families move in, we discuss the lights and they get on board.
“To me, Christmas lights bond us all in friendship and that continues throughout the whole year.”
Ms Thompson said ab out 15 houses in the street glowed every night. She expected the number of visitors to increase in the school holidays and as Christmas drew closer.
Don’t miss the remaining Ipswich Ipswich Christmas Lights Tours on December 14 and 15. The tours depart the council carpark at 45 Roderick St, Ipswich at 7pm.
Mayor Paul Pisasale said the tours were always incredibly popular.
“Thousands of people visit the city’s Christmas lights each and every year and these tours provide them with a way of experiencing the displays in a relaxed community atmosphere,” Mr Pisasale said.
Neither the Brisbane or Ipswich Christmas lights bus tours visit Springfield so a car in required to travel to Diana St.
