Island hideaway or inner-city clanger? A Queensland island now has a list price, and it will cost you less than an uninhabitable house in New Farm or a terrace with no loo in Sydney.
Victor Island in the Whitsundays “must be sold” after receivers were appointed to Kingdom Luxury Retreat 1 Pty Ltd, the owners of the eco-friendly property.
Now offered for sale for $2.75 million, the island could be yours for less than a uninhabitable house in inner-Brisbane.
A house on Abbott St in New Farm, which sits on two titles spanning 734sq m, recently sold for $3.85 million after being reclaimed by the bank.
Another one on Maxwell St sold for $4.15 million earlier this year.
The asking price for Victor Island is also less than a bog-standard house in 127 Aussie suburbs, according to the latest REA Market Trends report.
Listed with Colliers Cairns and PRD Real Estate Mackay, the island was purchased by a consortium for $3,655,500 in March 2022.
It was purchased by Sydney developers Kingdom Developments, which was placed into liquidation in August.
Prior to that, the island had been listed via various sales methods.
“Neighboured by only pristine sand cays and diverse marine life, this exclusive island is a true statement piece,” the current listing says.
Accessible only by boat or helicopter, the property has an eco-friendly four bedroom, two bathroom beach house set among lush, landscaped gardens.
There is also a one bedroom, one bathroom caretakers cottage, pool, machinery building with equipment and boat storage, a desalination plant, 225,000L of rainwater storage, solar panels and a backup generator, solar hot water, two marine craft and it is fully furnished.
To put the Victor Island listing into perspective, an unliveable house in Sydney with no inside dunny and in need of a complete renovation has been listed for $3 million.
Yeh, nah!
